What Happened?
On May 26, 2026, Mysa Dental was informed by its IT support company of irregularities related to remote access session hosts.
Shortly after, it became clear that an attack had taken place. The IT team acted to secure the system by locking down external access, disabling accounts with remote desktop access and forcing an office-wide password reset. The patient record platform was restored promptly, and archived data was not affected.
An investigation revealed that certain personal information of patients may have been accessed during the incident. The breach did not impact payment information or the dental care provided.
Information Exposed:
- Names
- Addresses
- Driver’s license numbers
- Government-issued ID numbers (such as passport or state ID card numbers)
- Medical information
- Health insurance information
- Dates of birth
The incident was reported to the Texas Attorney General and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. As of the disclosure, 3,394 people in Texas were reported as affected.
