What happened?

On May 12, 2025, Mountain Laurel Dermatology discovered a significant data breach. The incident was the result of a ransomware attack carried out by a group known as SAFEPAY. The hackers claimed to have stolen 5 GB of data from the practice, and posted about the breach on the dark web on June 23, 2025.

Following the attack, Mountain Laurel Dermatology reported the breach to the Vermont Attorney General’s office on July 11, 2025.
