About Mission City Community Network

Mission City Community Network, Inc. (MCCN) is a nonprofit organization that has served California and neighboring states for over 30 years. As a Federally Qualified Health Center, MCCN provides primary medical, dental and mental health services to uninsured and low-income individuals and families. The organization operates multiple locations across the San Fernando Valley, South Bay, San Gabriel Valley, Corona and High Desert regions.

MCCN focuses on delivering culturally and linguistically sensitive care, often through bilingual and bicultural staff. The organization’s services are offered at little or no cost for qualifying individuals, and it participates in several public health programs for low-income patients.

What Happened?

On or around June 6, 2025, MCCN discovered suspicious activity on its network. The organization responded quickly by securing its systems, launching an internal investigation and engaging outside computer forensic experts. The investigation revealed that an unauthorized individual gained access to MCCN’s systems for a limited period of time.

It was determined that documents containing protected health information may have been copied from the network during this incident. On June 23, 2025, a ransomware group called SAFEPAY claimed responsibility for the attack, stating they had obtained 198 GB of MCCN’s data and posting about the breach on the Tor network.

The types of consumer information exposed include protected health information.

MCCN has stated that not every patient’s information was accessed. The organization is still working to determine exactly who was impacted and what information was involved. Impacted individuals will be notified by mail with more details, including complimentary credit monitoring and identity protection services.

Your Rights and Next Steps

If you were a patient or provided information to Mission City Community Network, it is important to stay vigilant. • Monitor bank accounts and financial statements for unusual activity
  • Review any correspondence from MCCN regarding the breach, especially if you receive a notification letter
  • Take advantage of any free credit monitoring or identity protection services offered
  • Join a class action lawsuit

Lawyers are ready to help individuals affected by this breach understand their rights and potential legal options. If your protected health information was exposed, you may be able to participate in a class action lawsuit seeking compensation for any harm suffered as a result of the incident.
