What Happened?

In March 2025, MMMBS detected suspicious activity on its IT network. After taking systems offline and launching an investigation, it was determined that an unauthorized third party had accessed the network on March 27, 2025.

During this breach, files were copied and potentially viewed. The investigation confirmed that sensitive information belonging to more than 28,000 individuals was compromised.

The breach was publicly announced on Jan. 2, 2026, and reported to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services on Jan. 5, 2026.

Alarmingly, the Qilin ransomware group claimed responsibility, stating they obtained 38 GB of data and threatened to publish it on the dark web.
