About Mid America Physician Services

Mid America Physician Services LLC (MAPS) is an independent, physician-owned women’s health care provider based in the Kansas City area. The company was formed in November 2013 when four local obstetrics and gynecology groups merged. These founding divisions—Johnson County OB/GYN, Women’s Care, Women’s Clinic of Johnson County and Women’s Health Associates—continue to operate under the MAPS umbrella.

What happened?

On or about Nov. 14, 2024, MAPS discovered a network incident that affected its IT systems. On May 8, 2025, an investigation determined a data breach occurred that compromised patient personal, financial and protected health information.

Mid America Physician Services began notifying affected individuals on July 15, 2025 and published a Notice of Data Security Incident on its own website the same day.

The cybersecurity incident was disclosed to the Texas Attorney General's office on July 18, 2025, reporting 608 Texas impacted. The total number of patients involved in the data breach has not been released.
