What Happened?

On June 3, 2025, MemberSource Credit Union experienced a ransomware attack carried out by the group SAFEPAY.

The attackers claimed to have obtained 50 GB of the organization’s data, and the incident was later posted on the dark web on June 17, 2025. The breach was disclosed to the California Attorney General on May 8, 2026.

According to the official notice, the following types of sensitive consumer information were exposed:

  • Social Security numbers
  • Driver’s license/state identification numbers
  • Financial account information
