What Happened?
The incident was discovered on March 14, 2025, and was linked to Kelly Benefits, a third-party provider of benefits administration and payroll services. Between December 12 and December 17, 2024, unauthorized access occurred on Kelly Benefits' servers, resulting in the theft of files containing sensitive information related to Lincoln insurance policyholders.
Lincoln National Life Insurance Company’s own systems were not compromised, but personal information provided to Kelly Benefits by employers was affected. The breach impacted 8,848 people nationwide, with 15 residents in Maine and 83 in Massachusetts.
