What happened?

In late July 2025, Koch Eye Associates became the victim of a ransomware attack carried out by a group known as Abyss. The breach was posted on the dark web Tor network, where the hackers claimed to have obtained 313 GB of the organization's uncompressed data.

The total number of individuals compromised in the breach has not been released, but could include thousands of patients.
