What Happened?
On May 27, 2025, Kerkering, Barberio & Co. discovered unauthorized access to four email accounts. The company quickly isolated these accounts and engaged a third-party cybersecurity firm to investigate and secure their systems. The forensic investigation confirmed that some files were accessed and obtained by an unauthorized actor.
A thorough review determined that sensitive information belonging to 4,179 individuals in the United States was potentially exposed.
The breach impacted residents in multiple states, including three in Maine, 21 in Massachusetts and four in New Hampshire. Written notifications were sent to affected individuals starting March 13, 2026.
