What Happened?

The InterTech Group, Inc. was the target of a ransomware attack by a group known as Akira. On Nov. 19, 2025, Akira claimed responsibility for the breach, stating that they obtained 17 GB of data from the company. This data reportedly included personal employee information as well as sensitive company documents.

  • Social security numbers

According to the notice filed with the Massachusetts Attorney General, the breach was disclosed on Feb. 28, 2026. In Massachusetts, 43 individuals were reported as affected. The company has also notified residents in Iowa and other states as required by law.
