What Happened?

HYTORC Division of UNEX Corporation experienced a data security incident that was disclosed to the Massachusetts Attorney General's office on Feb. 5, 2026. The incident was reportedly a ransomware attack carried out by the Qilin group, who claimed to have obtained company data and posted about the breach on the dark web on Nov. 24, 2025.

According to the official notice, the breach may have exposed sensitive information, including social security numbers.

In Massachusetts, four individuals were reported as affected by this breach. The total number of impacted individuals has not been released to the public.

Your Rights and Next Steps

If you received a notification about this breach, there are several important steps you can take to protect yourself and your credit:

  • You have the right to obtain any police report filed regarding this incident. If you are a victim of identity theft, you can file a police report and obtain a copy.
  • Massachusetts law allows you to place a security freeze on your credit report with the three major consumer reporting agencies (Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion). A security freeze restricts access to your credit report, helping prevent unauthorized credit activity in your name.
  • To place a security freeze, you will need to provide your full name, social security number, date of birth, address history for the past five years, proof of current address, and a copy of a government-issued ID. If you are a victim of identity theft, include a copy of the police report or related documentation.
  • You can also request a free credit report by calling 877-322-8228 to check for unauthorized activity.
  • Consider placing a fraud alert on your credit files, which will notify you if someone tries to open new credit in your name.
  • Enroll in the complimentary identity protection services offered by HYTORC through Cyberscout by May 5, 2026.

Staying vigilant by monitoring your credit reports and account statements is critical. If you notice any suspicious activity, contact the Federal Trade Commission at 877-IDTHEFT (438-4338) or visit its website.
