What Happened?
On Aug. 21, 2026, HUT American Group reported a data breach to the Texas Attorney General.
Notably, the Apple American Group, operators of the largest Applebee's franchise in the United States, reported a data breach to various state attorneys general offices starting on Aug. 18, 2026. At this time, it is unknown whether the incidents are related.
The breach affected at least 3,528 individuals in Texas. The company notified affected consumers by U.S. Mail.
The breach exposed a wide range of sensitive personal information, including the following:

- Government-issued ID numbers (such as passport or state ID card numbers)
