What Happened?

Hudson River Housing experienced a data breach after falling victim to a ransomware attack by a group known as RHYSIDA. The breach was first detected when the organization was alerted to unauthorized access to its network.

A dark web posting by RHYSIDA on June 7, 2025, claimed to have obtained sensitive data and threatened to publish it within days.

Following a forensic investigation, Hudson River Housing discovered on March 5, 2026, that files containing personal information were removed from their network by an unauthorized third party around April 28, 2025.

Information Exposed:

  • Full names
  • Social Security numbers
  • Dates of birth
  • Driver's licenses
  • Financial account information

The breach was officially disclosed to the Massachusetts and New Hampshire attorneys general on March 13, 2026.

The breach affected at least one individual in Massachusetts, but the actual number of impacted people may be higher as investigations continue.
