Founded in 1981, the organization provides mental health services, substance use treatment, supportive housing and related programs to more than 10,000 people annually in Sacramento and Yolo counties.

Hope Cooperative operates a range of services, including permanent supportive, transitional, interim and sober living housing for over 500 individuals and families. They offer intensive case management, psychiatric services, therapy, crisis intervention, life skills education, medication management, supported employment and co-occurring disorder treatment.

What happened?

On or around Feb. 3, 2025, Hope Cooperative discovered suspicious activity involving an employee email account. Immediate action was taken, including engaging third-party data forensics specialists to investigate the incident. The investigation revealed that an employee email account was accessed without authorization between Jan. 15, 2025, and Feb. 3, 2025.

After a thorough review, it was determined that the compromised account contained sensitive personal information.
