About Hippo Analytics

Hippo Analytics Inc., doing business as Hippo Insurance Services, is a technology-focused insurance agency founded in 2015. The company offers homeowners and other property and casualty insurance products through both affiliated and unaffiliated insurance carriers.

What Happened?

Hippo Analytics discovered a data breach on Aug. 3, 2026.

After an investigation, it was determined that unauthorized access to consumer data occurred between Jan. 30, 2025, and Aug. 11, 2026.

The breach was caused by a vulnerability in Hippo’s online quote tool, which used a “pre-fill” feature to retrieve additional consumer data from a third-party service provider, Verisk. Due to a coding error, threat actors were able to exploit this feature and potentially access sensitive information.

The company reported that 38,518 people in Texas and 5,132 in Massachusetts were impacted.
