Over the years, Hennessy Advisors has expanded its offerings through several acquisitions, including Cornerstone Funds and FBR Funds, and now manages 17 different funds.

What Happened?

On March 30, 2025, Hennessy Advisors discovered suspicious activity affecting its access to certain systems and data.

The company began an investigation and brought in third-party cybersecurity specialists to help secure its systems. By late December 2025, Hennessy Advisors learned that certain data, including personal information of some investors, had been accessed and released without authorization.

By Feb. 5, 2026, the company confirmed that unauthorized parties had accessed sensitive information belonging to individuals associated with Hennessy Funds. Written notices began going out to affected consumers on Feb. 23, 2026.

The breach affected a total of 12,643 people in the United States, including 729 individuals in Texas, 346 individuals in Massachusetts, 147 individuals in Indiana, and 48 individuals in Maine.

  • Names
  • Driver's Licenses
  • Social Security Numbers
  • Financial Information (account number, credit/ debit card number)
