What Happened?
On or about June 12, 2025, Heart of America discovered suspicious activity on its network. An investigation into the scope of the incident revealed on Sept. 15, 2025, that files had been compromised to the unauthorized access.
Heart of America Medical Center experienced a ransomware attack carried out by a group known as EMBARGO. The incident was posted on a dark web portal on Aug. 6, 2025, with claims that 800 GB of the organization’s data had been stolen.
The breach was disclosed to the Massachusetts Attorney General on Aug. 5, 2026.
The types of information confirmed to have been exposed include highly sensitive details.
