Your Rights and Next Steps

If you received care or had dealings with Hampton Regional Medical Center, your personal information may have been compromised. It’s important to take steps to protect yourself from potential identity theft or fraud.

Here’s what you can do:

  • Monitor your credit reports and account statements for unusual activity. You are entitled to one free credit report per year from each of the three major credit bureaus.
  • Consider placing a fraud alert or credit freeze on your credit file. A fraud alert makes it harder for identity thieves to open accounts in your name, while a credit freeze blocks access to your credit report entirely.
  • Report any suspicious activity to your bank, healthcare provider, or other relevant institutions right away.
  • File a police report if you believe you are a victim of identity theft.
  • Consider joining a class action lawsuit
