On Jan. 11, 2026, Gallagher Transport International discovered suspicious activity within its computer network.
An unauthorized third party, later identified as the Sinobi ransomware group, gained access to certain systems and copied files containing sensitive information. The Sinobi group claimed to have obtained 100 GB of data and threatened to publish it on the dark web.
The company responded by launching an investigation with the help of cybersecurity specialists and began notifying affected individuals after completing a thorough review of the compromised files on Sept. 9, 2026.

- Social Security numbers
- Dates of birth
- Passport numbers
- Financial account information
- Customs assigned numbers
- Driver’s license or state ID numbers
- Taxpayer ID numbers
- Electronic/digital signatures
- Biometric data
The breach was reported to state authorities in California, Texas and Vermont on Sept. 25, 2026. In Texas alone, 1,097 people were reported as affected, with additional individuals impacted in Vermont and potentially other states.
