What Happened?

Gale Credit Union recently experienced a data breach involving a ransomware attack by a group known as Akira.

The incident was disclosed to the Massachusetts Attorney General on Sept. 3, 2026.

On Aug. 31, 2026, the Akira ransomware group claimed, on the dark web, to have stolen 50 GB of data, including sensitive information belonging to both employees and customers.

According to the notice sent to affected individuals, the following types of consumer information were exposed:
