What happened?

Family Counseling Services of the Finger Lakes experienced a cybersecurity incident involving unauthorized access to employee email accounts. An investigation revealed the breach occurred between Jan. 14, 2025, and Feb. 4, 2025 when an unauthorized actor gained access to personal and protected health data.

On June 30, 2025, a review determined the exposed data belonged to individuals, children, and families who have used FCSFL’s services. The organization began notifying affected individuals by mail on Aug. 25, 2025 and posted a Notice of Data Security Incident on its website.
