What Happened?

Between March 28, 2026, and April 12, 2026, Ernst & Young LLP experienced a data breach involving a third-party information technology service management platform. EY discovered abnormal activity on March 23, 2026, and determined that an unauthorized third party accessed and downloaded documents containing sensitive personal information.

The breach affected individuals connected to EY’s tax services, including those whose information was shared with EY by financial institutions.

The company notified affected individuals by U.S. mail and email. The breach was reported to state authorities in Texas, Massachusetts, Vermont and California in July 2026. The number of people affected includes 873 in Texas, 480 in Massachusetts and 13 in Vermont.
