What Happened?

On May 7, 2026, a ransomware group known as PLAY claimed responsibility for a cyberattack targeting EMA Engineering & Consulting. The group announced on a dark web forum that they had obtained a variety of sensitive data, including private and personal confidential information, client documents, budget, payroll, IDs, taxes and financial information.

The attackers threatened to publish this data within days.

EMA reported the breach to the Texas Attorney General on July 1, 2026. According to the disclosure, the breach affected at least 455 individuals in Texas.

The company notified affected individuals via U.S. Mail.
