What Happened?
On Dec. 15, 2025, Educational Employees Credit Union discovered that an unauthorized individual gained access to one employee’s email account for a limited period. After learning of the incident, EECU immediately secured its email environment and began a thorough investigation with the help of cybersecurity professionals.
The investigation determined that certain emails may have been accessed or removed by the unauthorized individual on Dec. 15, 2025. By May 8, 2026, EECU concluded that some of these emails contained sensitive personal information.
Information Exposed:
- Names
- Addresses
- Social Security numbers
- Driver’s license numbers
- Financial account numbers
- Credit or debit card numbers
EECU notified affected individuals by U.S. mail. In Texas, 949 people were affected, and in Massachusetts, 34 individuals were impacted. The breach was reported to the California Attorney General on May 29, 2026, to the Texas Attorney General on June 1, 2026, and to the Massachusetts Attorney General on June 2, 2026.
