What was the March Ransomware Attack?

On March 23, 2025, the company discovered that hackers had infiltrated their systems, encrypting data on both their servers and Microsoft cloud-based portal. The attackers, identified as the Qilin ransomware group, demanded a large ransom in exchange for a decryption key. After the company refused to pay, the hackers claimed to have stolen 700 GB of data and threatened to release it on the dark web. The breach was publicly posted on March 26, 2025.

The company notified the Maine and Texas Attorneys General about the breach on May 15, 2025, and began notifying affected consumers by written notice on May 21, 2025. In total, 17,000 people in the United States were affected, including 3,156 in Texas and 8 in Maine.
