About Dillon Family Medicine

Dillon Family Medicine is associated with McLeod Health, a hospital and health care network serving communities in the Carolinas. McLeod Health operates several hospitals and medical practices, including Dillon Family Medicine, which provides a range of health care services to local residents.

What Happened?

On March 5, 2026, a suspicious file was discovered on a Dillon Family Medicine server that was in the process of being decommissioned.

An investigation was launched with the help of third-party experts, which revealed that an unauthorized party had accessed the server between Oct. 17, 2025, and Oct. 18, 2025.

The breach was limited to this single server and did not involve other McLeod Health systems or the current electronic medical record system.

On April 14, 2026, it was confirmed that the affected server contained sensitive patient information. The breach was later linked to the Qilin ransomware group, which claimed to have obtained the organization’s data and posted about it on the dark web on April 25, 2026.
