What Happened?
On May 26, 2026, Cornerstone Behavioral Healthcare discovered a ransomware attack affecting its computer systems.
The attack began and was identified on the same day, and Cornerstone was able to suspend the attackers' access within an hour.
An investigation revealed that less than 10 percent of the data on affected systems was encrypted before the systems were powered down. Initially, Cornerstone identified that the personal and health information of approximately 2,830 individuals may have been compromised.
Later, on July 22, 2026, the company discovered that appointment reminder logs for an additional 12,000 individuals may have been accessed.
In total, the breach affected 14,830 people in the United States.
