What Happened?

In late May 2026, Coastal Carolina Centers of Urology and Surgery reported a data breach to the South Carolina and Vermont Attorneys General.

The breach was the result of a ransomware attack carried out by the Qilin ransomware group, who claimed responsibility and posted about the incident on the dark web on Sept. 4, 2025. The group stated they had obtained sensitive data from the organization, and sample screenshots were made available on their dark web portal.

According to the disclosures, 1,426 individuals in South Carolina and one individual in Vermont were affected.
