What Happened?
On July 19, 2026, the ransomware group Qilin claimed responsibility for a cyberattack on City Ambulance Service.
The group posted on the dark web, stating they had obtained sensitive data and intended to publish it within days. This type of incident is known as a ransomware attack, where hackers demand payment in exchange for not releasing stolen data.
The breach was officially disclosed to the Texas Attorney General's office on Sept. 1, 2026. According to the disclosure, 14,324 people in Texas were affected. The exposed information includes highly sensitive personal and medical details.
