What happened?

Cierant Corp. experienced a data breach due to a ransomware attack compromising Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Massachusetts patient data. The cybersecurity incident was discovered by the company on Dec. 10, 2024, with the hacking group CL0P claiming responsibility and posting about the incident on the dark web.

Cierant began notifying affected individuals on July 3, 2025. The data breach was disclosed to the California Attorney General's office on July 7, 2025 and Cierant published a Notice of Data on its own website.
