What Happened?
On or around Feb. 26, 2026, Central National Gottesman experienced a ransomware attack by a group known as Payouts King.
The attackers gained unauthorized access to a portion of CNG’s network and obtained sensitive files from company systems. The breach was posted on the dark web on March 12, 2026, with the group claiming to have stolen 726 GB of internal data, including confidential correspondence, financial records, contracts, payroll data and personal information of employees and customers.
CNG disclosed the breach to various state authorities in late August 2026. Notices were sent to affected individuals by U.S. Mail.
The number of people affected includes 843 in Texas, 568 in Massachusetts and 22 in Vermont, among others.
