What Happened?

On June 1, 2025, Central Maine Healthcare detected unusual activity in its information technology network. Investigators determined that an unauthorized party accessed Central Maine Healthcare’s IT environment between March 19, 2025 and June 1, 2025.

On July 29, 2025, it was confirmed that some of these files contained sensitive patient information. Central Maine Healthcare posted a data breach notice on its website on July 31, 2025 and began notifying impacted individuals by mail on Aug. 8, 2025.

Information Exposed:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Date of birth
  • Treatment information
  • Diagnostic information

The breach was also reported to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Maine Attorney General’s office on July 31, 2025.
