What Happened?

CAZ Investments identified a cybersecurity incident involving unauthorized access to certain company systems. The breach was first detected in August 2026, with the unauthorized access occurring between Aug. 8 and Aug. 12, 2026.

The company discovered that certain files containing personal information were accessible to a third party.

On Aug. 25, 2026, CAZ determined that some of these files included sensitive consumer data.

Information Exposed:

  • Names
  • Addresses
  • Dates of birth
  • Social Security numbers
  • Government IDs (such as passport numbers, tax identification numbers, driver's license numbers)
  • Financial account information

On Aug. 21, 2026, the ransomware group known as The Gentlemen claimed responsibility for the attack and threatened to publish the stolen data on the dark web.

The incident was reported to the Massachusetts Attorney General on Sept. 28, 2026, and to the Texas Attorney General on Sept. 29, 2026.

The breach affected at least 3,824 Texas residents and 413 Massachusetts residents, with additional individuals potentially impacted in other states.
