In September 2023, Cape Cod Five announced a partnership with Fidelity Bank, combining their mutual holding companies under a new multi-bank holding company called Mutual Bancorp. Both banks continue to operate independently under their established names and brands.
What Happened?
In August 2025, Cape Cod Five was impacted by a data breach involving Marquis Software Solutions Inc., a vendor providing digital and physical marketing and communications services. On Aug. 14, 2025, Marquis detected suspicious activity on its network and determined it was the victim of a ransomware attack. The investigation revealed that an unauthorized third party accessed Marquis’ network and may have acquired certain files containing sensitive information.
Cape Cod Five was one of several financial institutions affected by this incident. According to the disclosure to the Maine Attorney General’s office, 974 individuals in Maine were affected by the Cape Cod Five breach.
