What Happened?

Recently, Bridgeport Capital Services became the victim of a ransomware attack carried out by the group known as PLAY.

On Aug. 17, 2026, the hackers posted on the dark web, claiming to have stolen sensitive company and client information, including private and personal confidential data, client documents, payroll, IDs, taxes and financial information. The group threatened to publish this data within four days.

The company disclosed the breach to the Massachusetts Attorney General on Sept. 11, 2026. According to the official notice, the breach involved the exposure of the following types of consumer information:

  • Contact information (emails, phone numbers, etc.)
  • Social Security numbers
  • Driver’s license numbers
  • Dates and/or places of birth
  • Client business account numbers
  • Financial account numbers
