About Brevard Skin And Cancer Center

Brevard Skin and Cancer Center is a dermatology practice that has served Brevard County, Florida, for over 55 years. Founded in 1968, the center operates five offices across the region, including locations in Rockledge, Palm Bay, Titusville, Viera and Merritt Island.

The practice is known for providing a wide range of dermatological services, from skin cancer treatment and Mohs surgery to cosmetic procedures.

What Happened?

On Oct. 14, 2025, Brevard Skin and Cancer Center discovered a breach of its data systems. The incident was caused by a ransomware attack claimed by the PEAR group, who posted about the hack on a dark web network on Oct. 10, 2025. The attackers stated they obtained 1.8 TB of data, including sensitive information from patients, employees, partners and vendors.

The investigation revealed that, beginning around Sept. 28, 2025, an unauthorized third party accessed and exfiltrated data from the center’s systems, including sensitive information of current and former patients and employees. The company immediately engaged cybersecurity experts and notified the FBI, while also working to secure its network and review its privacy policies.
