What happened?

Aurora Emergency Physicians was among several physician practices impacted by a data security incident involving ApolloMD Business Services, a company that provides administrative services to healthcare organizations. The incident was discovered on May 22, 2025, when suspicious activity was identified within ApolloMD’s computer network.

An investigation determined that a cybercriminal accessed the internal system between May 22 and May 23, 2025, and may have accessed files containing patient information. The data breach compromised both personally identifiable information (PII) and protected health information (PHI).

On Sept. 17, 2025, notification letters began being mailed to affected patients. ApolloMD also published a Notice of Data Security Incident on its website.
