In 2020, AltaMed expanded its reach with the creation of AltaMed Health Network, Inc. (AHN), a managed care network serving over 250,000 Medi-Cal members, which brought their headcount to more than 1,800 employees.

What happened?

In August 2024, AltaMed Health Services Corporation experienced a data breach that exposed sensitive information belonging to patients and members. The breach occurred between August 5, 2024, and August 9, 2024.

AltaMed disclosed the incident to the California Attorney General’s office on June 13, 2025. Additionally, a second disclosure was made on Feb 2026.

AltaMed disclosed the cybersecurity incident to the U.S Department of Health and Human services, reporting 4,530 individuals affected.
