What Happened?

On Sept. 5, 2025, Advantage Gold discovered a data breach that impacted its systems.

The breach occurred after hackers exploited a vulnerability in third-party firewall software used by the company. This allowed unauthorized individuals to bypass security measures and access networks containing sensitive personal information.

The investigation revealed that the following types of information were exposed:

Information Exposed:

  • Names
  • Addresses
  • Contact information
  • Social Security numbers (limited number)
  • Custodian account numbers (limited amount)

The breach affected approximately 7,960 people in the United States, including 36 in Maine. Advantage Gold notified affected individuals electronically on March 27, 2026.
