What Happened?
Absolute Dental Group experienced a data breach which was reported to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services on May 2, 2025. The breach compromised both personally identifiable information (PII) and protected health information (PHI) of approximately 1,223,635 current and former patients.
The cybersecurity incident occurred when a cybercriminal gained access to the organization's internal systems between Feb. 19, 2025 and March 5, 2025. An investigation determined that the unauthorized access occurred through Absolute Dental's third-party managed services provider.
Absolute Dental posted a Notice of Data Incident on its website in August 2025 and began notifying impacted individuals by mail.

The data breach was also disclosed to the Massachusetts, California, Texas and Oregon Attorney Generals' offices beginning on Aug. 26, 2025. Impacted individuals include 1,892 in Texas and 137 Massachusetts residents.
