Wilson Dental Data Breach Exposes PHI and PII Data of 3,476 Patients

Wilson Dental, a Texas dental practice that operates as part of Soniva Dental Care, was affected by a data breach after a ransomware attack was discovered in late May 2026. The broader Soniva Dental Care breach affected at least 30,000 Texans across the practice's locations, including patients of Wilson Dental.

The company's IT support company identified the incident after noticing irregularities related to remote access session hosts. The breach was discovered in late May 2026.

The types of personally identifiable information (PII) that may have been exposed in the breach included names, addresses, dates of birth, driver's license numbers and government-issued ID numbers such as passports and state ID cards.

In addition, protected health information (PHI) was also among the data that may have been compromised, including medical information and health insurance information.

The breach has been reported to the Texas Attorney General, with 3,476 Texas residents identified as affected at the Wilson Dental location.

Wilson Dental's response to the breach

Soniva Dental Care is offering complimentary identity protection monitoring services to affected patients. These services are designed to help patients monitor for potential misuse of their personal information.
