The Asthma Center Data Breach: PHI and PII Exposed

The Asthma Center (TAC), formally known as Allergic Disease Associates, P.C., disclosed a data breach after an unauthorized actor accessed its computer systems in late 2025.

The company posted a notice on its website providing details about the incident and the steps individuals can take to help protect their information. The total number of individuals affected has not been publicly disclosed.

In November 2025, The Asthma Center discovered suspicious activity on its computer systems. The practice took steps to confirm the security of its network and began a thorough investigation to determine the nature and scope of the event.

The investigation confirmed that an unauthorized actor gained access to The Asthma Center's systems between Oct. 28, 2025, and Nov. 17, 2025. During that roughly three-week period, the unauthorized actor may have downloaded certain files from the affected systems.

Following the discovery, The Asthma Center undertook a comprehensive review of the files that were potentially involved in the breach. The goal of this review was to determine what types of information the files contained and to identify the individuals whose data may have been affected.

The review found that the specific information involved included both personally identifiable information and protected health information such as names, dates of birth, health insurance member numbers, provider names and medical information, clinical information, diagnosis information, prescription information and treatment information.

The Asthma Center's response to the breach

The Asthma Center encouraged all individuals to remain vigilant against identity theft and fraud. The notice recommended reviewing account statements, Explanation of Benefits forms and free credit reports for any suspicious activity.
