Saint Anthony Hospital Data Breach: Names & SSNs Exposed

On Feb. 6, 2025, Saint Anthony Hospital, a nonprofit community hospital in Chicago, discovered that an unauthorized party had gained access to employee email accounts. The breach was disclosed to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services on Sept. 12, 2025.

The cybersecurity incident exposed sensitive information of 6,679 individuals, including patients and staff. The total number of patients and staff impacted by the security breach is not yet known.

Compromised information potentially includes names, addresses, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, dates of service, telephone numbers, and protected health information.

In addition to the HHS, the breach was disclosed to the Massachusetts Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation and to the Vermont Attorney General.
