
OEConnection LLC, a global automotive technology company commonly known as OEC, disclosed a data breach that occurred in March 2026.
On March 6, 2026, OEC identified suspicious activity within its computer environment, according to the company's notification to consumers. The company took steps to secure its systems and launched an investigation into the incident.
The investigation found that an unauthorized party gained access to certain servers and viewed certain files between March 5, 2026, and March 6, 2026.
OEC then conducted a comprehensive review of the impacted data to determine whether it contained personal information and to identify the individuals whose data may have been involved. The review process was completed on April 2, 2026.
The types of information that could have been subject to the unauthorized access included names and Social Security numbers.
The breach was disclosed to the Maine Attorney General on June 8, 2026. OEC began notifying affected individuals by written mail on June 8, 2026.
OEC is providing affected individuals with complimentary access to credit monitoring and identity restoration services through Experian IdentityWorks for one year. The services include an Experian credit report at signup, daily credit reports for online members, active credit monitoring of the Experian file, identity restoration support from specialists, and $1 million in identity theft insurance and Experian IdentityWorks ExtendCare.
Affected individuals must enroll by Aug. 31, 2026, to activate the monitoring services. Enrollment is available online, and those who prefer an alternative to online enrollment can contact Experian's customer care team for assistance.
