Miller Insurance Protection Team, an insurance agency based in Jonestown, Pennsylvania, disclosed a data breach that was discovered on April 10, 2026.
The breach was reported to the Maine and Massachusetts attorneys general starting on May 9, 2026. The company began notifying affected individuals by written letter on May 8, 2026.
The breach at Miller Insurance Protection Team resulted in the exposure of personal information held by the agency, according to the company's notification to consumers. The types of personally identifiable information that were compromised included driver's license information and Social Security numbers.
Miller Insurance is offering complimentary identity monitoring services through Kroll, a risk and financial advisory firm that specializes in identity protection.
For individuals who want additional protection, the company's notification also explained how to request a security freeze on credit files at no cost. A security freeze prevents credit reporting agencies from releasing any credit report information without the consumer's express authorization.
The notification directed consumers to the Federal Trade Commission as an additional resource for identity theft reporting and prevention.
The FTC can be reached online at ftc.gov/idtheft, by phone at 1-877-438-4338 or by mail at Federal Trade Commission, Consumer Response Center, 600 Pennsylvania Ave. NW, Washington, D.C. 20580.
