May Trucking Co., a privately held interstate truck transportation carrier headquartered in Salem, Oregon, disclosed a data breach that occurred on June 21, 2026. The total number of individuals affected by the breach has not been disclosed.

The breach was reported to the California Attorney General on Aug. 13, 2026. May Trucking mailed notification letters to affected consumers on Aug. 13, 2026.

May Trucking detected suspicious activity within its network and initiated an investigation. The company also engaged independent cybersecurity specialists to assist with the process.

The investigation determined that certain files were acquired without authorization at the time the company first detected the incident.

On June 30, 2026, nine days after the company detected the suspicious activity, a ransomware group known as Embargo posted a claim on the Tor network. The group claimed it had obtained 100 GB of May Trucking Co.'s data and stated its intention to publish the information within five to six days.

On July 23, 2026, approximately one month after the initial detection, the company learned that some individuals' personal information was contained within the affected files. The company then engaged a third-party vendor to begin the process of notifying those individuals.

The personal information exposed in this breach included first and last names and Social Security numbers.
