
Lusamerica Foods, a family-owned seafood processor and distributor headquartered in Morgan Hill, California, disclosed a data breach that occurred on Jan. 31, 2026.
On Feb. 13, 2026, a ransomware group known as PLAY posted a claim on the Tor network. In the posting, the group stated to have accessed private and personal confidential data, client documents, budget information, payroll records, IDs, tax information and finance information.
The specific types of consumer information that were confirmed to have been exposed as a result of the breach include Social Security numbers, dates of birth and health insurance policy or ID numbers.
The breach was reported to the California Attorney General and to the Washington Attorney General starting on May 18, 2026.
The total number of people affected across the United States has not been made public as of June 9, 2026; however, at least 1,017 Washington residents were impacted.
Lusamerica Foods set up a dedicated, confidential toll-free response line for individuals who have questions about the incident. The company is also offering a credit monitoring service to affected individuals.
The response line is available Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. EST, excluding holidays.
