EmCentrix, a provider of human resources and payroll integration software, experienced a data breach affecting 59,060 individuals. EmCentrix discovered a network disruption on August 14, 2024, and an investigation revealed certain files were accessed or acquired by an unauthorized party.

On June 16, 2025, EmCentrix determined that personally identifiable information (PII) may have been compromised due to the cybersecurity incident, including names, Social Security numbers and financial information.

The data breach was reported to the California, Maine, Massachusetts, Montana, Texas and Vermont Attorney Generals' offices beginning on June 26, 2025. Affected individuals include 39 in Montana residents, five in Maine, 75 in Massachusetts and 5,480 in Texas.

EmCentrix's response

In additional to required state disclosures, EmCentrix notified affected individuals by mail on June 26, 2025 and is offering free identity protection services.

If you believe your personal information may have been compromised in this breach:

  • Carefully review any notice or communication you receive from EmCentrix and sign up for the free IDX identity protection services offered.
  • Monitor financial accounts and credit reports for signs of identity theft.
  • Consider placing fraud alerts or credit freezes with major credit bureaus.
  • Be cautious of unsolicited emails or phone calls requesting personal information.

For more information about the company, visit the EmCentrix website.

Protect Your Data

A breach notice means your personal details could be circulating far beyond the organization involved. One practical step is continuous monitoring: services such as Identity Defender (included with an ExpressVPN subscription) can automatically check dark-web markets, flag new credit-file activity, and request removal of your information from data-broker sites.

This kind of “early-warning system” can’t undo a breach, but it can help you spot misuse quickly and limit further exposure. ExpressVPN is offering 61% off, risk-free for 30 days, with ID Theft Insurance included and no extra cost for those who sign up for one or two years.
