Corporation Service Co., widely known as CSC, disclosed a data breach that exposed Social Security numbers.
The breach was reported to the Vermont Attorney General on Aug. 13, 2026.
On Oct. 21, 2025, CL0P posted a claim on the Tor network asserting that it had obtained data belonging to CSC. The dark web claim by CL0P appeared approximately 10 months before the breach was formally reported to state regulators.
At this time, specific details concerning the nature of the breach, the discovery date, and the steps taken to contain the incident remain publicly undisclosed.
The personal information exposed in this breach included Social Security numbers.
Individuals who may have been affected should watch for official correspondence from CSC regarding the incident. Breach notification letters typically include additional details about what happened, as well as information about any protective services or resources being offered.
Affected individuals who receive a notification from CSC should review it carefully and follow any instructions provided, though those who are concerned about their information do not need to wait for a letter to begin taking protective measures.
