Credit Acceptance Corp., a financial services company based in Southfield, Michigan, disclosed a data security incident that exposed sensitive personal information belonging to consumers.

The breach was disclosed to the Massachusetts Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation on June 30, 2026. Credit Acceptance discovered the breach on June 4, 2026.

The breach resulted in the exposure of names and Social Security numbers.

Credit Acceptance's response to the breach

Credit Acceptance is offering affected individuals 24 months of complimentary identity monitoring services through Kroll.

Affected individuals can activate their identity monitoring services by visiting Kroll's enrollment page and entering the membership number included in their notification letter.

Credit Acceptance has also set up a dedicated phone line for questions about the incident. Affected individuals can call 844-959-7145, Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Central Time, excluding major U.S. holidays.
